THE WRITING LIFE

The Journey of Writing
Sweet Vengeance

A story written in quiet moments. A dream waiting to be found again.

I wrote Sweet Vengeance because I could not find the story I wanted to read.

I have always loved romantic suspense: stories filled with secrets, danger, emotional tension, and slow-burn romance. At the time, I kept searching for a story that felt exactly the way I imagined it in my mind. When I could not find it, I decided to write it myself.

A story between hospital shifts

I first started writing Sweet Vengeance about eight years ago, when I was working as a nurse in the Philippines. I wrote parts of the story during my breaks in the hospital, sometimes late at night after long shifts. Writing became my small escape from the busy and demanding world of nursing.

Those quiet moments allowed me to create something that belonged to me.

Eventually, I finished the novel. I even started writing what would later become the second book.

The years in between

But life became busy.

I moved to the United Kingdom to continue my career as a nurse. Like many people who move to a new country, I became focused on work, responsibilities, and building a new life. The manuscript slowly disappeared into my files and I eventually forgot about it.

For years, the story simply waited.

Finding my way back

Then, in 2025, something unexpected happened.

I had applied for a senior nurse position that I truly wanted, but I was not selected. I felt discouraged and disappointed. During that time, I was going through old documents and files, and I suddenly found the manuscript of Sweet Vengeance again.

My story. Out of curiosity, I started reading it. And something inside me came alive again.

The characters were still there. The emotions were still strong. It reminded me of the passion I once had when I wrote the story years earlier during my hospital breaks.

That moment inspired me to continue.

I began proofreading the manuscript carefully. I revised scenes, improved the dialogue, and strengthened the story. I read the entire book again and again. In fact, I proofread it four times before I finally felt ready.

The courage to publish

Then I made a decision that felt both exciting and terrifying. I would publish it.

On 22 November 2025, my birthday, Sweet Vengeance became my very first published novel.

Looking back now, it still amazes me that a story I started writing years ago during short breaks in a hospital eventually found its way into the world.

This book represents more than just a story to me. It represents patience. Second chances. And the courage to return to a dream that once felt impossible.

Sometimes the dreams we set aside are not truly gone. They are simply waiting for the right moment in our lives to return.

For me, that moment was when I rediscovered Sweet Vengeance.

And that moment changed everything.

The story that began it all.
